The Mark 48 torpedo (Mk 48) is a heavyweight submarine-launched torpedo designed to sink deep-diving nuclear-powered submarines and high-performance surface ships. The ADCAP (Advanced Capability) upgrade includes improvements in speed and guidance systems. It can be launched from all classes of submarine in the U.S. Navy inventory.
